Location: Samadhi Shrine is a famous memorial shrine built on Samadhi Road in the state of Andhra Pradesh, to honor the parents of Sathya Sai Baba.
Description: Sathya Sai Baba was born to Meesaraganda and Peddavenkama Raju Ratnakaram in the village of Puttaparthi as Sathyanarayana Raju. Samadhi Shrine or Samadhi Mandir reflects deep love of Sathya Sai Baba towards his parents. The mausoleum is made of black stone and always kept clean by devotees. A beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha is located nearby the shrine. The priest conducts prayers and rituals in Samadhi Mandir every morning. The morning session begins from 9:30 to 11:30 in the morning with Vedic chanting for an hour, followed by Bhajans. Managala Aarti is conducted during evening session from 4:30 to 6:30. It is a well-established Hindu tradition to take darshan of a Samadhi in order to get blessings of the divine. According to Sai Baba, Service to Man is Service to God. On May 6th of every year, several poor people are fed in the memory of Sai Baba’s mother.
Activities: Eswaramma Day is the day on which the death anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba’s mother is observed as an annual festival in the shrine. The festival is also famous among devotees as Narayan Seva.
