During the 18th century, Tipu Sultan went to Badami and found the place and the location very attractive. He was so overwhelmed with the place that he decided to construct a fort instantaneously on pinnacle of the hills.
Magnificent shanks were built and it happened to be a plus point for Marathas during war. The shanks are having many features, which make Badami Fort worth visiting. Tipu's Fort is on the summit of the hill which is integrated with beautiful cave temples. The way to the fort is past 2nd and 3rd caves. You can experience an innate cave which showcases some Buddhist carvings, while going forward to Tipu’s fort. There are specific timings to view the fort that is 6 am to 6 pm.
