A sovereign and inimitable artistic complex, Bharat Bhawan is a multi-art center, inaugurated by late Mrs. Indira Gandhi, who also served as the Prime Minister of India. The Bhawan was inaugurated in the year 1982, on 13th February, by the great architect Charles Correa. The main motto, which laid to its foundation, was to generate an interactive propinquity that fills the gap between various kinds of art forms, namely visual, performance and verbal art.
The astonishing work of its craftsmen and remarkable beauty of its structures, contribute to the unique heritage, in conjunction with contemporary expression and fine arts of our country. Bharat Bhawan holds some of the best innovations and creations of Bhopal’s villages, towns and jungles, thus providing a creative form to our literature, theatre, cinema, music, art and various dance forms. It remains open for tourists daily from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm, whereas on Sundays and government holidays the Bhawan remains closed.
