Located above Ganesh Tok is the prominent lord Hanuman shrine, renowned as Hanuman Tok. Situated at a distance of about 11km from Gangtok and at a height of about 7,200 ft, it is easily reachable via local transport and that too at a reasonable fare.
The temple is administered by the India Army and is very clean and well maintained. In its close proximity there is a burial ground of the royal families of Gangtok, also known as “royal cremation ground of Lukshyama”. It has the remains of the earlier Namgyal Empire, who were confined to flames on this land.
You can see huge scores of devotees and nature lovers all round the year coming from different corners of the world to enjoy the serene and refreshing beauty of its soothing environs. A major attraction of the temple is the famous Mela, which is celebrated with full pomp and show and attracts innumerable devotees who come here to offer their prayers to Lord Hanuman.
