One amongst the famous tourist’s attractions in Sikkim is the renowned Tsomgo Lake. Situated 30km away from the main town on the Nathula Pass, it is at an elevation of about 12,210 feet representing a picturesque exquisiteness.
The lake is well known as 'The Source of the Lake' amongst locals and is regarded sacred by the inhabitants. During your visit you can see a lot of migratory and residential birds along with Brahminy duck in huge numbers, adding pristine charm to it scenic view. It can be easily reached by local transport from the city.
Along with this the lake is believed to be mythical because of the great Sikkim gurus, who study the color of water to predict the future of the state. This 1km oval shaped lake is about 50 feet deep and is rare assortments of flowers like the rhododendrons, iris, blue and yellow colored poppies that bloom here making the place ideal for tourism. The best time to visit is during the month of May and August.
