Tourists who wish to have a more spiritual vacation will have plenty of options to choose from, thanks to the numerous chapels, churches and cathedrals which have been built all across the entire state. Tourists who are more inclined towards checking out different styles of architecture prevalent across different time periods. The most important of these chapels is The Chapel of St Lawrence, which is located in Cansaulim. This chapel was built by the second vicar of St. Thomas Church of Cansaulim, Father Gonsalo Carvalho S.J. in the year 1598. This chapel’s architecture shows a lot of influence of the Portuguese style of architecture which will surely delight those tourists who are interested in architecture. Over the years, this chapel experienced damage, due to neglect and vandalism, but it was duly renovated in the year 1783. Later on in the year 1863 it was expanded and was also renovated in the year 2001.
