Calangute beach is located near the town of Calangute, at a distance of 15 km from the capital of Goa, Panaji and is the largest beach in all of North Goa. This has led to it being bestowed the nickname “the Queen of the Beaches.” This beach is extremely popular among the tourists who visit the state of Goa from all corners of the globe. During their travels, many people who were a part of the counterculture movement, which swept the world in the 60’s, came across this beach, falling in love with the beautiful sands and the many palm trees here. Tourists who visit this beach can indulge in a number of activities of their choosing. The beach is also home to a large number of sea facing restaurants, called shacks by the locals, where tourists can indulge in an enormous number of local as well as international cuisines.
