The MahanavamiDibba is a huge, imposing structure, a beautiful gem studded golden throne from which the kings of the Vijayanagara Empire ruled the kingdom and observed the religious and royal processions passing by.
Embroidered with thickly carved bands of soldiers, horses and figures depicting the many aspects of courtly life, this structure is the tallest in the area, resembling an elevated platform when seen from a distance. There is also a double-sided staircase at the back of the structure. The Dibba was built by King Krishnadevaraya to commemorate his victory over Udaygiri. This ancient structure inspires a mood of royalty of the days gone by.
