Local residents, when referring to the Shyam Mandir, call it as Veeranna Gutta, which is its older name. Situated atop a small hillock, this temple personifies impeccable beauty. The main deity of this temple is Lord Shyam, who is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Krishna. However, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva was also built later on.
In the premises of Shyam Mandir lay various other temples, which are dedicated to different Hindu Gods, such as Lord Sri Anjaneya, Lord Sri Radha Krishna, Lord Sri Kaal Bhairav, Lord Sri Shyam Baba, and Lord Sri Shiva.
Visiting this temple for darshan on the 11th and 12th days of every month according to the Hindu calendar is regarded as auspicious and devotees in large numbers throng the temple around this time. During festival days the ambiance of the Mandir becomes more holy with the devotees singing bhajans in lord’s praise.
