Regarded as the official residence of the Nizam VI, Mahbub Ali Pasha, Purani Haveli is located near Dewandevdi in the city of Hyderabad. Designed according to European style, this Haveli is a U-shaped complex bordered by two double storied oval shaped wings and also consists of a single storied building that lies in the centre.
Literally “Purani Haveli” means “Old Quarters”. It was originally used as the residence of the Peshwa, Mir Momen in the 16th century. However in the late 18th century, this Haveli came under the ownership of Nizam III. A unique feature of this Haveli remains the longest wardrobe that was built into two levels.
The famous Mukarram Jah Technical Institute, as well as a renowned library, forms a part of this complex. A museum that exhibits wide collections of gifts is also present in this Haveli. This place provides an enriching experience for the people who love exploring history of a place.
