One of the most magnificent structures in Hyderabad and a major landmark is the remarkable Charminar. This eminent structure and its magnificent artwork, reflecting the impeccable skills of craftsmen, hold a prominent place in the history of this town.
Constructed under the reign of Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, this beautiful structure was erected in the year, 1591. The use of granite and lime mortar on each corner of the structure gives it a magnificent appearance. This four-storied structure is about 24 meters high, which gives the look of a sphere encircled around the minaret. The minaret is built in a square shape, adjacent to which there are four towers, each 20 meters tall. Furthermore, you can see a giant arch that opens into a court and is about 20 meter in height and 11 meters wide.
The Minar is surrounded by a wonderful alignment of colorful and ancient bazaars, reminding the markets of Baghdad and Istanbul. These features make it unique and a must visit site in Hyderabad.
