Location: Surrounded by a sky-scrapping wall on all the sides, the City palace is located on Agra-Bikaner road in Jaipur.
Description: This palace occupies one seventh of the area of the entire Jaipur city. City palace appears as an impressive fortress, displaying combination of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural style. Constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh II, this building complex has seen many renovations. A large vessel made of silver can be seen outside of these huge structures. This vessel filled with water was taken by a former Maharaja with him to England. He was a devout Hindu and he refrained himself from drinking English water.
The mansion has been built following the same plan that was employed to build the city. So if you want to know about this palace, you should take a trip of the bazaars and streets of the city.
Activities: A number of courtyards, big gardens, and the building itself make for an impressive structure. It serves as a house for various grand formations, like City palace museum, Badal Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple, Chandra Mahal, and Mubarak Mahal. This is a place that must be visited to get a glimpse of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage and traditional outlook.
