Supervised by Konkani railways the Udupi railway station lies on the main line of Konkan railways, which connect Mangalore to Mumbai. Through this line only, it is also connected to all the other major cities of India. One can get trains to Udupi from Trivandrum, Mangalore and Mumbai.
Udupi does not have its own airport. The nearest airport is around 60km away from Udupi, it is the Mangalore Bajer airport. This airport is connected with all the major cities of India, in fact regular flights are available from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. After getting down at Mangalore airport you can take taxi to Udupi, which costs around Rs. 1,000.
Fortunately Udupi is very well connected to all the nearby cities by Karnataka Road Transport Corporation buses. It is around a drive of one hour from Mangalore. There are regular bus services between Mangalore and Udupi. The tourist service providers also offer luxury bus services, running between Mumbai, Bangalore, Mangalore and Udupi, The fare of these buses are around Rs. 4/ km.
