The nearest railhead for Srinagar is Jammu Tawi, which is located at a distance of 290 km from the city. Regular trains arrive from Delhi, Calcutta, Pune, Mumbai, Kanyakumari, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Trivandrum. During holiday season, additional trains operate to and from various parts of the country but make sure you get prior bookings, to avoid delay in your plans. On arriving at Jammu station, you can easily hire a car or board a local bus and reach Srinagar at an affordable cost.

By Air

Srinagar has its own international airport commonly known as Sheikh ul Alam. For tourists, this air stripe was inaugurated for arrivals and departures with air bridges and other up to date operational facilities. Regular flights by Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Spice Jet and Jet Airways operate from other airports of key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, etc. Once you reach the airport, hire a taxi or a car to reach the city centre.

Now days, mini couches have made journey much easier for tourists and  run throughout the city including major tourist spots from Delhi, Jammu, Leh, Chandigarh, Mumbai and many neighboring cities of India. It is worth hiring a taxi from the bus terminal that helps you reach nearby hotels.
