SARISKA- A City of Temples and Lakes
Popular tourist destination, Sariska is situated in the Alwar district at a distance of 110 km from the pink city, Jaipur. Weather of the city remains comfortable; therefore a visit can be planned all around the year but the best time is during the months of September to April. Around this time all the animals can be spotted easily in their natural habitat and a lot of migratory birds can also be seen.
The Sariska National Tiger Reserve, established in 1955 has made the city more famous. After attaining the status of a National park in 1979, this reserve has attracted a large number of foreign, as well as local tourists. A perfect destination for enjoying a Jungle Safari, tourists can observe a wide variety of animals, such as tigers, chital, sambar, leopard and Nilgai. They can be easily spotted roaming around in their habitat during the safari.
Bird lovers can witness different birds, such as sand grouse, wood pecker, kingfisher and golden back. This reserve also attracts a number of migratory birds. Tourists can avail the jeeps while on a jungle or Elephant safari as private vehicles are not allowed inside the reserve.
A number of historical places, various monuments and temples adorn this beautiful city. The Kankawari Fort built by Jai Sing II in 17TH century remains a major attraction of the region. Other important monuments of the place are Pratapgarh Fort, Ajabgarh Fort and the Bhangarh Fort. The ruins of these monuments now serve as a reminder of the glorious past of this land.
