Ranchi is well linked through Indian Railways to all the major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jaipur and Chennai in India. The two important railway stations in the city are Ranchi Railway Station and Hatia Railway Station. Direct flights are available from Patna, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata at the Birsa Munda Airport (IXR) of Ranchi. This airport is located at a distance of 7 km. Different airlines that facilitate the journey of tourists are Go Air, Jet Airways and Air India. The nearest international airport is situated at Kolkata which is linked with different cities in India and abroad. Tourists can hire a taxi to reach Ranchi from Kolkata.
The best means of transportation is travelling by bus. National highways NH23 and NH33 pass through the city connecting it with other states and cities. Buses of Jharkhand State Road Transport Corporation (JSRTC) and various private buses ply regularly to and from Ranchi connecting it with other cities. Luxury buses also operate from different cities so that the tourists can reach their destination comfortably.
