RAJAHAMUNDRY- Andhra Pradesh’s Cultural Capital
Famous as the cultural capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, Rajahamundry has a glorious history. It is believed that in this city, Nannaya - the great poet, developed a Telugu script. He was considered to be the first poet or an “Adikavi” of the language.
The city of Rajahamundry is also well known for adhering to Vedic values and culture. Ancient rituals are still preached and practiced in this city without fail and many rare art forms which are related to ancient time still thrive in Rajahamundry. Considered to be 8th most famous city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, area wise Rajahamundry is the 4th largest city of the state.
Various tourist places which lie in and around the city are Aryabhatta Science and Technology Society which aims for the growth of downtrodden with the help of science in the city. Different worship centers are the Sri Kotilingeswara Temple and the ISKCON Temple which are dedicated to different deities and are famous all over the country.
Weather of the region remains hot and humid which is favorable for the pilgrims to mark a visit to different temples for offering their prayers. Best time for visiting the city is during the months of December and January.
Rajahmundry is considered to be one of the oldest cities in the country, which was built by the Chalukya Maharaja Sri Rajaraja Narendra. Therefore a visit to this famous city offers a glimpse of Chalukya style of architecture. This city also offers beautiful view of the River Godavari as it lies on its banks.
