Bordered by the states of Orissa in the south and Jharkhand in the west, Midnapore is named after Medinimata, a local deity popular amongst the pilgrims. Midnapore is a place to brush up on the history of India’s freedom struggle, with many local monuments dedicated to freedom fighters located here.


It is also a popular destination among pilgrims owing to the presence of a large number of temples, like The Jagannath Temple located in Nature Bazaar is a very famous spot among pilgrims. You can also visit the Hanuman Temple located in Mirabazar, the Sitala Temple located in Barabazar and the Habibpur Kali Ma Temple.
