Malda- A treasure of historical marvels
Malda town is located in the district with the same name in the West Bengal state. The town is famous by the name of English Bazaar and was founded back in the 19th century. One can visit the region of Malda to get a glimpse of the historical monuments and buildings. Jama Masjid tops the list of must visit places housed in the region of Malda. It was constructed in the year of 1566. Another popular place is Nimsari Tower. Umpteen plantations exist in this town and every visitor makes sure to visit a few of them, if not all.
Bird Watchers can spend a day at the Raiganj Bird Sanctuary. Loads of species of migratory birds can be spotted in the sanctuary. Another place worth visiting includes a museum which showcases treasured artifacts like magnificent sculptures, porcelains, several calligraphic inscriptions and products made from terracotta belonging to the history of Malda, along with archaeological items or evidences displayed here. The museum is maintained by West Bengal Directorate of Archaeology. Items preserved here are more than 1500 years old.
Tomb of Fateh Khan constructed in the 17th century stands exactly opposite to the Kadam Rasool Mosque. A remarkable thing about this tomb is its architecture which has been influenced by the Hindu style of architecture.
