Chandigarh is well connected to a number of cities by rail. There are a number of trains which run between Chandigarh and New Delhi throughout the day. However, a heavy volume of traffic for these trains means that making ticket bookings in advance is definitely the way to go. Chandigarh is connected by train to major metropolises like New Delhi, Mumbai, Howrah (Kolkata), Chennai, Jaipur, Lucknow and even Kochuveli in Kerala. Some trains operate all week long whereas others might operate on a select few days in the week.
Chandigarh has an airport which is located on the outskirts of the city. This airport currently allows tourists visiting Chandigarh access to and from the cities of Mumbai, New Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar, Kolkata and even Goa. It’s location in the North means many flights might have a stop – over at the New Delhi airport before they reach this city. Currently there are plans underway to augment the infrastructure and increase the air traffic capacity of the airport so that more flights can come in.

Chandigarh has two bus stations which provide the city with connectivity to almost every major destination in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jammu and Kashmir as well as New Delhi. There are regular air – conditioned buses which travel between major destinations like New Delhi and Chandigarh.
